The wet electrostatic precipitator (WESP) is an advanced air pollution control device specifically designed for the removal of trace dust particles and fine particulate matter from humid gas streams. It effectively eliminates various hazardous substances, including dust, acid mist, water droplets, aerosols, odors, and PM2.5 particles. The operational principle involves the application of tens of thousands of volts of direct current between the anode tubes and cathode wires, creating a strong electric field that induces complete gas ionization. This process generates positive and negative ions that collide and become charged. The charged dust and mist particles are then propelled toward the respective electrodes by the Coulomb force in the high-voltage electrostatic field. Upon reaching the electrodes, the particles discharge their electrical charge and adhere to the surfaces due to their inherent viscosity, subsequently being removed through liquid flushing.

Wet electrostatic precipitators operating across diverse industries
The WESP system offers numerous advantages, including high particulate collection efficiency, minimal pressure drop, simplified operation, low energy consumption, absence of moving components, elimination of secondary dust emissions, reduced maintenance costs, short production downtime, operational capability below the flue gas dew point temperature, compact structure enabling integration with other flue gas treatment systems, and diverse design configurations.

The cleaning mechanism employs liquid flushing of the collection electrode surfaces, enabling effective capture of fine particulate matter (PM2.5 dust, SO3 acid mist, aerosols), heavy metals (Hg, As, Se, Pb, Cr), and organic pollutants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dioxins). Implementation of WESP technology can achieve particulate emissions from humid flue gas streams at concentrations below 10 mg/m³ to 5 mg/m³.

The wet electrostatic precipitator installed in the Shandong brick production project demonstrates superior performance in dust removal, with an inlet dust concentration of 200mg/m³ and an outlet concentration maintained at ≤15mg/m³. The system achieves a dust removal efficiency of ≥92%, which has been officially verified and approved by the local environmental protection authorities.
